Walking tour - 2 hours or coach tour taking in civic quarter and cathedrals too
Starting in Derby Square, the site of Liverpool’s original Castle. Find out about bad King John and the founding of the little fishing hamlet. We make our way through Liverpool One to the place that would be pivotal in Liverpool’s booming future, the Old Dock. Next we journey to Albert Dock, exploring the masterwork of Jesse Hartley and Liverpool’s ascendance to become the second city of the Empire.
We’ll hear about Albert Dock from glory to dereliction and its rise again as a UNESCO World Heritage site. From here we walk over to Mann Island and the Pier Head, exploring the old and new architecture of the Pier Head and hear about Titanic and its links to Liverpool. Finally we journey down Water Street to the Town Hall and head to the world famous Mathew Street and the Cavern Club, where the Beatles graced the stage 292 times!
